WalterFedy provided civil engineering services to this $379 million Infrastructure Ontario P3 Project, working with Ellis Don, Dillon Consulting Ltd. for landscaping, and NORR for architecture. In order to move ahead on this project, our team was required to obtain both City and Region engineering approval, which they did promptly and professionally.
This site, previously an underused parking lot, presented many challenges that WalterFedy professionals had to overcome. The courthouse was designed to be barrier-free and accessible to all, and this was difficult to achieve due to significant grade changes around the site. Our engineers and project team adapted their design to the restrictions imposed by the grading and erected many retaining walls throughout the site.
The contemporary design of this space integrates into the City’s core and provides a new civic plaza in the heart of downtown Kitchener.
