WalterFedy’s civil, electrical, and mechanical groups were part of the design team responsible for bringing destination style amenities to the Albert McCormick Community Centre. The Albert McCormick Park now boasts a new plaza space with versatile playing spaces, 5,000 SF skate park, splash pad, climbing structure, accessible basketball court, and gathering and seating areas, in addition to the existing ice rink, library, and community spaces. Our scope included topographical survey as well as civil servicing, grading, stormwater management design, lighting design, and inspection. The team also designed a new parking lot located within an adjacent Hydro One transmission corridor to accommodate increased traffic to the centre. The $2.2 million project was completed in early 2021 and was officially opened for public use in July.
