WalterFedy has been providing architectural and engineering services to Constoga Cold Storage (CCS) since the late 70’s. Over the years, our team has provided services for new designs and ongoing renovations to facilities across Canada – Montreal, Mississauga, Kitchener and Calgary.
The Halton Hills facility consists of 150 ft tall temperature-controlled warehousing facility and with multiple loading docks and office space.
The electrical scope included the installation of a new 27.6 kV electrical service to the site from the Local Distribution Company’s electrical network. The design included the following components:
- Metal-Clad gear service entrance.
- Provision for second incoming feeder.
- Distribution sections to feed the various substations throughout
the facility. - Feeds were run in concrete encased duct banks. In some cases, IEEE 835 ampacity calculations were required due to the depths of certain installations.
- The indoor transformation was dry-type with close-coupled low voltage gear.
Once the building and future phases are completed, the total connected load will be in excess of 20MW. Provision for the connection of future peak shaving generation was also included.
